What would you pay for a hand-made designer handbag?
I've been designing and making my own felted handbags for several years now. All my friends tell me that I should sell them. Even strangers compliment me on my handbags! The problem is that the materials can be costly (sometimes $50 or more). To do this for profit, I would have to put a fairly hefty pricetag on them.
So, what would you pay for a one-of-a-kind handbag?

The price I'd be willing to pay varies.I happen to love and own felted bags and have actively sought to buy them in the past. I've spent under $100 for them.
As a former limited edition handbag designer I'd first try to get my material costs down.
To give a proper answer it would help to know the method: needle or knitted. Handmade items price from double cost + estimation of labor costs, up to whatever the market will bear.
Felted bags are perceived as 2-season bags so buyers take that into account.
From my experience as an artisan I don't see many people spending $200-300 for an item like this.
As you probably know your primary target market for these is fine craft galleries, small boutiques in
areas where clientele support unusual craft. Also handbag parties, word of mouth. I'd try to get the price down into the $100-150 to just under $200 range. Best of luck.

If it's really cute, but isn't by someone already featured in Vogue or Harper's, I'd say up to $175.
It really depends on the market you're in, though. In NYC (where I used to live), even never-heard-of-designers can get stupid money for a cute item sold in a trendy boutique on the Lower East Side or in SoHo.
Where I live now, you'd be lucky to get $30 for the hotest Chanel bag you've ever seen. Locals: "Who's Chanel???"

Sell them for twice what you paid to make them or even more. If the bag was really cute I would pay anywhere from $100 to $300.

$200.00 to start, and then later, maybe more. Seriously, that's a price women will pay for a good handbag... especially for one that is unique. I mean, who doesn't have a Coach bag these days. Now, if you can personalize it with a monogram somewhere, that might be a draw too as monograms seem to making a comeback. how wonderful that you have this talent... good luck.

Since you're an up and coming designer, I think anwhere between $150-$350 would be a good price to pay for your bags. If you can sell them in a boutique in an area that's known for selling "new and different" things, then I think people will buy them.

i would sell i for $125 - $150 their you make good profit and yes i would LOVEEEE to see a picture im a purse fanantic especially one of a kind purses

I would pay nothing because i know a site where you can get them for free. You can get your very own designer bag from http://urlx.org/directtrack.com/6809f . Gucci, Ferragamo, Prada, Or Dolce & Gabbana , choose any one of those and you will recieve them for free. All you have to do is fill out the survey. My girlfriend got her bag from that site and all she had to do was choose the bag she wanted and enter in her email address.

How about you sell them for roughly twice the amount it costs you to make them? I personally don't spend money on bags, but I know that's not typical of most women my age (I'm 19). Just be sure to sell them someplace where they'll be seen by people in the market for handbags!

People pay for a name, sell them at a boutique and you can get at least $150 I'd say.
